INTERGENERATIONAL TRAUMA

The dreaded inheritance. My work with intergenerational trauma stemmed from my initial counseling work around self-worth, depression, and anxiety. Many maladaptive thought processes, reactions, beliefs, and communication styles are engrained within the fabric of who we are.

Recognizing the role of systemic oppression and structural inequities in perpetuating intergenerational trauma, exploring family history and dynamics, identifying patterns of trauma transmission, and exploring how these dynamics impact a client's current experiences and relationships are vital when processing intergenerational trauma.

Having a therapist that incorporates mindfulness techniques, grounding exercises, somatic therapy, brainspotting, and culturally relevant healing practices allows the journey through emotional wounds to move at the best pace for you to reach profound change.
