3-Day Intensive
A 3-day Intensive is an option for clients who have completed a consultation and intake to participate in 6 or 8 hours of therapeutic work over 3 days. Intensives are meant to help clients reach their goals and insight faster and are typically held Friday-Sunday or Saturday-Monday. Days 1 and 3 are 90 minutes (1.5 hours), and Day 2 is 180 minutes (3 hours) or 300 minutes (5 hours).
*3-Day Intensives will not be appropriate for every client, which is why a consultation and intake are required first.*
FAQS
Are there breaks during the intensive?
With days #1 & #3 being 90 minutes, a break is not typically needed. Of course, the therapist will accommodate the client's request to take a 5-10 minute breather if needed.
Are the 3 and 5 hour days straight through?
Yes. It’s easier in terms of scheduling for all 3 or 5 hours of day #2 to be held consecutively. One 30-minute break is offered during the 3-hour day whenever the client wants to use it. One 30-minute break is provided during the 5-hour day; two optional 15-minute breaks are also provided during the 5-hour day. Naturally, clients are free to step away if needed, in addition to the breaks included.
Why do I need an intake session before the intensive?
An intake is required before a therapy intensive to screen for suitability. Being open and honest during the consultation is important for the therapeutic relationship and ensuring that the therapist feels comfortable and confident in their ability to assist the client, and recognize the need for a potential referral should the potential client have needs/considerations beyond the clinician’s competency. The intake serves the same function before an intensive and is included in the rate of service listed above.
The intake session allows the client the opportunity to share several glimpses of their life, upbringing, communication style, and personality. Each of these elements provides the therapist with an idea of pacing for sessions and whether it would be safe, responsible, and helpful to implement the accelerated processing of an intensive.
